CUSTOMER SURVEY QUESTIONS

In January we sent our customers an invite to participate in our customer survey.  Here are answers to many of the comments/questions we have received from our survey:

Why are SoftSeal Masks priced higher than other N95 masks?

Answer:

Our masks use medical grade silicone to create a unique flexible seal to the contours of your face. Medical Grade Silicone is an expensive raw material.  The Silicone in the SoftSeal mask costs more than all the other materials added together.

Why isn't shipping free when ordering a SoftSeal Mask?

Answer:

Shipping costs have risen considerably over the past year.  Even so, in response to our customers concern, we lowered free shipping to a $60.00 minimum order from the previous $80.00.  We also lowered the shipping charge below $60.00 to 9.95 from $12.00 and added a $5.95 shipping charge tier on orders over $20.00.

Why do you have a valve on some of your masks when many places don’t allow a valve?

Answer:

We retailed masks with valves in big box retail outlets before the COVID pandemic.  It is much more comfortable for people who wear masks for extended periods of time to have an exhalation valve.  The valve removes moisture buildup behind the mask and lowers the work of breathing while wearing a mask.  The CDC has reversed its opinion about valves on masks.  It now states valves on an N95 mask are ok and controls exhaled dispersal as well as a surgical mask.  For individuals who want to wear a mask for protection but have lung issues and find it impossible to wear a sealed N95 mask for any period because of the increase in the work of breathing, their only option to be protected with an N95 mask is to have a mask with an exhalation valve.

Why don't you offer the V-fold N95s in a 10-pack box?

Answer:

We have created a 10 pack for V-folds.  They should be on the website in a month or two.

Why don't you offer different colors of SoftSeal Masks?

Answer:

There is a significant amount of testing that goes into receiving NIOSH certification.  Once certified any changes to the mask, including color changes, requires them to be retested and resubmitted for NIOSH approval.

Suggestion: Make the V-fold in black or grey.

Answer:

Our Charcoal V-fold is grey and NIOSH N-95 approved

Can I order your masks without the print written on it? (I feel like people are reading my face)

Answer:

NIOSH certification is very strict on what is required to be printed on masks.  Labelling is controlled by NIOSH and the specifications require the mask is labelled on the front of the mask so it is easily identified as a NIOSH certified mask

Why don't you offer size small N95s?

Answer:

Small sizes are very difficult to become NIOSH N95 certified.  There is a pressure drop test that is very difficult to pass when there is a small surface area of fabric.  Also, NIOSH certifies masks for occupational protection and children are not in a work force usually that requires masks.  That said, we do have small N-95 certification for our V-fold mask, which will fit very small faces, that can be purchased on the website.

Would it be possible to make an earloop version, in addition to the head strap version?

Answer:

NIOSH does not certify masks with just ear loops. NIOSH requires masks to be tightened around the back of the head.  This is the best way to assure a seal against the face. Ear loop attachments cannot assure a tight fit. KN95 masks are not certified by NIOSH and therefore do not have that requirement.

Your sizes don't seem "true"-- I have a large head

Answer:

Here's a link to our standardized fit chart.  We are investigating increasing the stretch length of the head strap for larger heads while still using the adjustable tensioning clip to maintain a tight seal.  We will announce when that is accomplished.

We are investigating this.

Suggestion:  Put metal bar closer to upper edge

Answer:

We are investigating this.

Why don't you advertise in more places?

Answer:

The government required most all advertising platforms to not allow N-95 masks to be advertised until 2023 due to the lack of supply for medical caregivers during the COVID pandemic.
